CROSS CERTIFICATION

recognition of experience and certification

Our birth doula program has 2 alternative pathways to certification – for those new to the field, and for those who are certified with another organization, are experienced, or are health professionals.

If you are an experienced birth doula, certified as a birth doula with another organization, or a medical professional, Childbirth International (CBI) now offers a new and easy way for you to certify with CBI that means you can develop your skills and enjoy lifetime certification without recurring membership and certification fees. The certification requirements are reduced to reflect your experience and skills.

You may be looking for educational opportunities that build on your existing knowledge and continue to grow your network and resources. Scroll down the page and complete the form to quickly check if you are eligible to transfer to become a certified CBI professional with this transfer program.

Benefits of Cross Certification With Childbirth International

There are many benefits for you to train and certify with Childbirth International:

  • 15% discount on course cost
  • Lifetime certification
  • Evidence based training program
  • No membership fees – we believe you have the right to affiliate with an organization because you share their values, not because you are required to in order to maintain your certification status
  • No recertification fees (recertification is an option if you require it)
  • Support for building and growing your business
  • No limitations on which births you can attend or how much you can charge
  • An international network of other birth professionals from 115 countries
  • Training materials that focus heavily on communication skills and reflective practice
  • A reputable organization that puts the needs of students and graduates first
  • Strong support from your trainer throughout your training and beyond, for as long as you want it

Cost Comparisons

Depending on the organization you are certified with, the process of maintaining your certification can cost as much as $400 every three years. We do not believe that you should have to maintain membership with an organization in order to have your hard work in training recognised. Once you register with Childbirth International there will NEVER be any additional fees, and we will NEVER require you to recertify, unless you choose to do so (some local organizations require evidence of continuing education in order to be recognized by them, so we make this available for those who wish to show evidence of it and can issue a recertification certificate in those cases – we provide this service at minimal cost).

We recognize certification from the following organizations.

  • Australian Doula College
  • Australian Doulas
