About
Childbirth International is a unique organization. With a global outlook and a strong belief in the “education is power” philosophy, we provide training for doula and childbirth educator students all over the world. We are committed to establishing the international standard for Childbirth Education programs and doula training.
How do you choose the right training program?
Childbirth International is one of the fastest growing training organizations in the world – we currently have students from every continent and 75 countries across the world and every state of the USA. Our philosophy in training Childbirth Educators, Doulas and Counselors is to ensure they have the confidence and skills necessary to carry out their role professionally. This enables them to support parents in making the right decisions for themselves throughout pregnancy, labor and birth – their birth, their way. We strongly believe in the benefits of a natural birth while acknowledging that sometimes interventions are necessary for the well being of both mother and baby. Routine interventions without any medical indications have no place in maternity care.
We feel that in addition to a caring and supportive approach, it is essential that a labor supporter, postpartum doula, childbirth educator or breastfeeding counselor should have a strong knowledge base of both the normal and the abnormal. This understanding enables birth professionals to guide parents through their choices and help them to find their voice.
All students are assigned a trainer who supports and mentors them throughout their training program. No matter how small the question, or how long a student requires support for, your trainer is there to help you. Trainers are experienced and accredited childbirth educators and doulas. Reflecting our international flavor, we have team members from the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the UK. We also have a customer service support team to help you with any questions.
Together with our experience of pregnancy, labor, birth and parenting, our team members also have experience in nursing, publishing, public relations, human resources, childcare, law, writing, and information technology. We have all participated in distance learning programs ourselves and understand the challenges of this form of education.
